I’ll build it. You’ll pay nothing.

Who’s this for?

Build it Free is for anyone who has an idea, or a pain they want solved with software, but they can’t or don’t want to pay to have it built.

Additionally, Build it Free is for someone that simply has a great product or startup idea but doesn’t want to build or run the business, but knows they should get compensated for their contributions.

How does this work?

It’s simple. You submit your ideas and I review them. If your idea is chosen, I build it at zero cost to you. Not only that, but you could potentially profit. Keep reading.

What’s in it for me?

If I pursue your idea, we’ll (ideally) work together closely. You’ll get the tool you’ve always wanted without having to pay a penny. This literally means you are getting a custom utility or app built for you for free. Here’s the great part — you will in addition get 10% equity in the product. This means that you could not only have an enormous pain relieved, but you could also get handsomly compensated for it if it takes off.

What’s in it for you?

By solving a problem for you, chances are that there are other people with the same problem. While you get the application built for free, I retain rights to it and can charge other customers for it.

So I never pay a dime?

Essentially, yes. You pay $0 to have the app built. Once the app is out in the world, you pay 50% of what other customers pay. Why do you have to pay at all? Because by committing to that, it proves to me your idea is solving a valuable problem.

Who are you, anyway?

I’m Mac Martine, a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) consultant and MVP developer for startups and innovation departments of large businesses. I also host The SaaS Bootstrapper podcast, and I live in Portland, Oregon. Hit me up for a coffee or beer if you are in town.

What kind of ideas should I submit?

The best kinds of things to submit are those that solve real pains, would save you or your business time or frustration, or simply enable you to do something that you can’t easily do now.

Ideas can be for any platform: web, desktop, or mobile.

The idea can solve a problem for either consumers or businesses.

Submissions can be for a standalone product or an integration/add-on to any widely adopted platform such as Shopify.

Ideas can be simple OSX utilities, full-on SaaS apps, or anything in-between.

Things to not submit are custom integrations to your proprietary software, or anything that nobody else would have a use for.

How do I apply?
